The Slow Guides are for anybody who wants to slow down and live it up. They celebrate all that's local, natural, traditional, sensory and most of all gratifying about living in each of these corners of the world.

Now in its 11th year, being the only film festival in the country that is solely committed to screening films made by Indigenous people is pretty impressive, and important, stuff.
The festival has been put together by filmmakers Rachel Perkins (who directed Bran Nue Dae)and Darren Dale, both from Blackfella Films, and they’ve brought together some remarkable films that tell stories from different Indigenous cultures.
We heard director Genevieve Grieves talking on RRR this morning about her affecting documentary Lani’s Story – it received a standing ovation when it showed at the Sydney Opera House and screens here on Saturday afternoon. Another pick would be Boxing for Palm Island, which takes a look at how boxing is being brought back to Palm Island, and helping to heal its less than stellar reputation. There’s also a session of short films on Sunday afternoon, and Canadian director Niel Diamond looks at how native American Indians are seen by Hollywood in Real Injun.

4 – 7 September (and all screenings are free!)
It all happens at the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, located at Melbourne Museum, just north of the Melbourne CBD.
