There’s a guerrilla on the pavement!
There’s only one thing more cheering than spotting an unexpected cluster of sunflowers on an otherwise dull street – planting them yourself. How lucky, then, that tomorrow is International Sunflower Guerrilla Gardening Day! Pick a sunny spot in your neighbourhood that doesn’t have much else, er, growing for it. Dig a hole about two centimetres deep, drop in a few sunflower seeds, cover with soil and return every so often to water them and clear away the weeds. All being well, they’ll bloom by August and the streets will feel all summery and cheerful. The birds and bees will thank you, too.
